Currently at Dwyer, teachers are coming up with their own tools for technology and there are not many practice that are used school-wide. Although much collaboration takes place, technology has not been the focus.
-
Christa Glembocki begins as principal of Dwyer. She takes time to survey what is happening on campus and learn from each teacher what the current status of teaching and learning is.
-
Principal Glembocki attends Khan Academy lecture with Sal Khan. Khan Academy is looking to partner with schools in SoCal and Dwyer emailed our interest. A new application is set for fall called Learnstorm.
-
Open Education Resources will be introduced to the staff briefly at a site staff meeting to pique interest. CK12 and Khan Academy will be shown and teachers will have an opportunity to play with the sites in groups.
-
Dwyer will work with Khan Academy to have professional development in Learnstorm. Teachers will be able to import their Google Classroom rosters into Learnstorm and track student usage of the program. Students will use for blended learning opportunities - these could be for remediation and intervention, standards-based class enhancement, and extension/enrichment. This application uses gamification to encourage students.
