Ellens parents are forced to flee Copenhagen because the Nazis were going to take them to be "relocated" -

Ellen crosses the channel to Sweden on Henriks fishing boat -
Annmarie delivers the hankerchif to Henrik
Henrik forgets the Hankerchief that will put the dogs off their sent. Annmarie runs it to him -
War ends
The War ends and Annmarie takes out Ellens necklace for the first time in two years.
