Sirens
Told by Circe to be careful with the Sirens because they would sing a song that would want you to come to them and lead their ship into danger. Circe gives Odysseus beeswax to put in his men's ears. Instead of doing the same he orders his men to tie him up firmly. Odysseus wanted to hear the song they sang, Soon Odysseus makes it out of there unharmed.
Analyze- Odysseus gains the knowledge of the Sirens songs and how bad it can get for everyone. He also gains the trust of Circe. -

Lotus-Eaters
Odysseus and his men landed on the island of the Lotus-Eaters. They than began to eat the lotus flowers. This caused them to sleep and stop caring about ever going home. Finally Odysseus as able to free himself from the drug of the flower and set sail.
Analyze Odysseus learned that he and his crew cant go around trusting everyone who comes off nice and easy. They may seem all nice at first but will turn on u just as fast. He lost some of he crew because of the flowers. -

Cyclops
After the Trojan war Odysseus sailed home. On he way he encountered the Cyclops. Which led to 2 of his men being eaten and how having to figure out a way to get them out. He offered them wine that was very strong. They usually mix it with water but knowing that the Cyclops never had the wine it took them out quick.
Odysseus learned a smart way to taking out people such as the Cyclops without anyone getting hurt. In this process he lost a few men. -

Circe
Circe invited them into her home and gave them food and soon Circe turns them into pigs. Eurylochus runs back to Odysseus to tell him. Odysseus he meets Hermes who gives him a plant to protect him from the magic of Circe. She was unable to defeat Odysseus so she frees his men but convince Odysseus to stay with her.
Odysseus learns that his men must know how to be more careful around people like Circe. Even though they treated her poor she shouldn't have turned them into pigs. -

Aeolus- Bag of Wind
Aeolus gives Odysseus a bag full of wind. He tells Odysseus not to open it right away. Also that the wind will take him in the direction of Ithaca. If he opens it early it would have the opposite effect.
The positive affects was he got a back to help him with his journey to Ithaca. If he doesn't follow the directions Aeolus gave him the negative affects would put him farther away to complete his journey. -

Scylla and Charybdis
Odysseus and his men meet Scylla and Charybdis. Scylla is a six-headed monster who and Charybdis is an enormous whirlpool. Told by Circe, Odysseus tries his best to get through the cliffs of Scylla’s lair. As he and his men stare at Charybdis, the heads of Scylla swoop down and eats up six of his men. Odysseuslooses a few of his men just to watch the monster and the whirlpool. He learns that he should have had half focused on the monster and some oon the whirlpool. -

Trojan War
Odysseus did not want to fight in a war over a woman. Until they put his son Telemachus in front of plow forcing Odysseus to fight He led the armies of Ithaca to take back the kidnapped wife Helen from Trojan prince Paris.
Analyze We learned that Odysseus wasn't going to fight in the war to get Helen but putting his son at risk would force him to do it . Family means a lot to Odysseus. He gained in the process his son back from getting hurt. -

Helios' Cattle
Lampetie tells Helios that Odysseus men have slain his cattle. Helios tells the gods to get payback on Odysseus' men. He threatens them that if they do not pay him full redemption for the cattle, he will take the sun to the Underworld and shine it among the dead.
Odysseus learns that messing with the animals was bad mostly Helios cattle. He had to say sorry so he wont get pusnished for something like thst. -

Suitors/home
The suitors behave badly in Odysseus' home, drinking his wine and eating his food. Telemachus is frustrated with the suitors and complains to Athena about the suitors' behavior. Athena told him to stand up to the suitors and set out in search of his father. Once Odysseus returns home Telemachus tells him that there are 108 suitors. Together, Odysseus, Telemachus, Eumaeus and Philoetius kill the suitors. Odysseus learns that if he didnt return the one of the suitors would have married Penelope.
