Bohr competed in his first competition and won. To complete his experiments Bohr had to make his own glassware. He later published a revised version of the winning essay in the "Philosophical Transitions of The Royal Society" -
1910
Niels earned his Masters Degree on the electron theory of metal. He later elaborated his Masters thesis into his much larger, Doctor of Philosophy thesis. -
1913
Bohr's three papers were published in "Philosophical Magazine " in July, September, and November that year. He adapted Ruthefords nuclear theory to Maxs Planks quantum theory and so, created his "Bohr model" of the atom. April 1917
Bohr began a campaign to establish an institute of Theoretical Physics. He gained the support of the Danish Govt. and the Carlsberg Foundation. Legislation establishing the institute was passed in Nov, 1918 -
March 1921
On March 3rd 1921 the Niels Bohr opened with Bohr as its director. -
1922
Bohr was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his services in the investigation of the structure of the atom and the radiation emanating from them. -
1924
In 1924 an important discovery came with Wolfgang Poli's of the Poli exclusion principle, which put Bohr's model on a firm theoretical footing.
