Co Founder Dies
Bonnie Nettles dies from cancer, which changed their views on how to reach heaven. Their original idea was they would ascend in a UFO while still alive, this event made them believe the the soul goes to heaven after one dies. -
The End
This date marks the death of 39 members of the religion, including the death of the other founder, Marshall Applewhite. The group committed a mass suicide, after leaving a final message stating the arrival of comet Hale-Bopp has brought closure to the group.
