  • Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)

    Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)
    The CCC was in place from 1933 till 1942 in the US. It was a public work relief program for the unemployed and unmarried men. Consisted of men from the ages 18-25. They develpoed parks, planted trees, built roads, etc. Three million men passed through this program by 1942.
  • Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)

    Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)
    The AAA reduced agricultural production. They paid famers subsidies to not plant on part of their land and also to kill off excess livestock. The prupose was to reduce crop surplus. They also wanted to raise the value of crops. Janurary of1936 this act was stated to be unconstitutional. The AAA of 1938 got the farm program to continue.
  • National Industrial Recovery Act (NRA)

    National Industrial Recovery Act (NRA)
    The NRA was a law passed to regulate industry. After the deflation it wanted to raise prices. It was a stimulate for econmic recovery. It was meant to enforce codes of fair competition, minimum wages. Also was created to permit collective barganing of workers.
  • Federal Housing Administration (FHA)

    Federal Housing Administration (FHA)
    The FHA is created as part of the National Housing Act of 1934. It was a untited states government that set standards for construction. It also was made to insure loans made by banks.
  • Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC)

    Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC)
    The Securities and Exchange Commisson regulated stock market and restricted margin buying. It main purpose was to enforce the federal securities laws. Today, the SEC consists of five Commissioners who are appointed by the President.
  • Works Progress Administration (WPA)

    Works Progress Administration (WPA)
    The Works Progress Administration was the largest American New Deal agency. They employed millions of unemployed people to carry out public work projects, which included the construction of roads and buildings.
  • Rural Electrification Administraion (REA)

    Rural Electrification Administraion (REA)
    Encouraged farmers to bring electricity to rural areas. The Roosevelt Administration believed it was the governments duty o supply farms witth electricty. Only 40% of farms had electricty by 1940.
  • National Labor Relations Board (Wagner Act)

    National Labor Relations Board (Wagner Act)
    The Wagner Act is the most important piece of labor legislation enacted in US history. It allowed workers to join unions and outlawed union-busting tactics by management.
  • Social Security Act

    Social Security Act
    The Social Security Act was benefits for old aged workers. Also was aid for dependent mothers and children, the blind, and the physically handicapped.
  • United States Housing Authority (USHA)

    United States Housing Authority (USHA)
    The USHA was a federal agency created during 1937 within the United States Department of the Interior by the Housing Act of 1937 as part of the New Deal. It was made to lend money to the states for low-cost construction.
