Ned wished to replace his mother and baby sister in jail with himself instead, but fearing that the police wouldn't believe his recount of the story, Ned and his brother Dan decided to go into hiding at Stringybark Creek. There they emerged upon 4 policemen, who were trying to hunt them down. A shootout started and the Kelly brothers ended up killing 3 policemen. One escaped and reported them.

Ned and his gang disquise themselves as policemen and rob a bank in Jerilderie. At the time, Ned also wrote his famous Jerilderie letter. -

In the end, the police arrested Ned kelly, two of the gang members including Ned's brother Dan were said to have died in the fire burning the hotel and the rest of the gang members were shot dead by police. -
