Cable Communications Policy Act
The Cable Communications Policy Act of 1984 made cable companies disclose what subscriber information they are taking and using. Subscribers are also allowed to take legal action if this is violated. I give this act a c- because it seems like a good policy but not many people know about their rights and if a company sends a huge booklet detailing the information many people won't read it because they don't know what they are receiving. -

Electronic Communications Privacy Act
The Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 makes it a felony to wire tap without consent from at least one of the parties or to use the illegally obtained conversation or information. I'd give this law a B- because its kind of vague but it does protect americans rights to privacy for the most part. -
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
The Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 protects children under 13 years of age from having their personal information taken by corporations or websites. It also protects children from going onto websites not suitable for those under 13. I give this one an A- becaus ei think it does a good job protecting children even though a lot of people lie about their age, it protects the ones who don't. -
Wireless Communications and Public Safety Act
The Wireless Communications and Public Safety Act of 1999 requires that 911 be the emergency number across the united states and it requires the number to be avaliable for cellphone use also. I give this law an A because I think its a good idea to have a single number that works for all phones across the nation. -
A.B. 1844
A.B. 1844 legislation from 2012 prohibts employers from forcing employees to give out their social media usernames or passwords. I think this law deserves an A+ because its none of the employers business what you put on your account in your free time as long as it does not slander the company nor is it done during their time. -
Privacy Bill of Rights
In 2012 Obama proposed the Privacy Bill of Rights which would limit online tracking and help users understand what happens with their private information. Consumers also have the right to limit and manage their personal information collected on the internet. I think this deserves a A because it limits what corporations can do with your information.
