Adolf Hitler discovers the Nazi Party
In 1919 Hitler is working as a spy for the German army. As a spy he must visit "extremist" political parties and report on their motives and ideas. In September he visits a German Workers Party meeting. He is interested by the ideas of the party and joins. -
DAP = Nazi
The German Workers party is renamed by Hitler as the National Socialist party. In the first meeting the 25-point programme which highlights many infamous Nazi policies such as Anti-Semitism, the abolition of the Treaty of Versaille, nationalisation of Big Business and the unification of German speaking peoples, is drafted. -
Hitler assumes leadership
Adolf Hitler is installed as leader of the Nazi Party and takes the title of "der Fuhrer" -
Creation of the S.A.
The S.A. (Sturm Abteilung) is formed. As the party militia their job is to break up opposition meetings and eliminate enemies of the Nazi's. Often reffered to as "Hitlers Private army" or the Storm Troopers. -
Munich Putsch begins
Inspired by Benito Mussolini's Marcia su Roma the Munich/Beer hall Putsch or in German the Hitler-Ludendorff-Putsch was Hitlers failed revolution attempt to seize power of Bavarian and German government. It began on the evening of the 8th November 1923 at a local government meeting where Hitler and his infamous associates, Ludendorff, Hess, Goerring and about 600 S.A. surrounded the hall. -
Munich Putsch fails
State police were soon aware of the trouble caused by the Nazi's in the beer hall. THe Police overwelmed the S.A. and the revolotion was stopped.
