Trail of Death
In 1838, the Potawatomi Native Americans were forced by the government to make a 660 mile walk to Kansas from northern Indiana. Many Native Americans died durring the walk and it was therefore called the trail of death. -
The Trail of Tears
Many Native Americans were forced to give up land east of the Mississippi River because of Jackson's Indian removal plan. The were forced to migrate to present-day Oklahoma. Many had to deal with hunger, disease, and exhaustion. Out of the 15000 Cherokees forced to leave, 4000 died.
