Trail of Tears
The Cherokee nation was located in Georgia. Settlers needed more room and they wanted to expand into Georgia. There was also gold in Georgia which made the US want to remove the Cherokee tribe too. Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act in 1838 and the Cherokees had to flee Georgia and go to Oklahoma. This move is known as the Trail of Tears.
