Labor Day
We celebrate this holiday the first Monday in every September. This holiday honors every working person. Today the kids will share what their parents do for a living and what they want to be when they grow up. They will also will learn why should give everyone day off from work. -
Columbus Day
On the second Monday in October we celebrate Columbus day. We celebrate this day to remember when Christopher Columbus landed in the New World. The kids will learn what year Columbus discovered the New World and which President made this a national holiday. -
Veterans Day
At first this holiday was called Armistice Day and honored those who fought in World War I. Now we honor everyone who has served in the armed forces. The children will learn what World War I was and who was our President during that time. They will learn about the tradition of the President placing a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery. -
Christmas Day
Today the children will learn about different holidays that people celecrate this month along with Christmas. We will each take turn sharing what we do over the holidays. We will also make holiday cards. -
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Today the kids will be learning about Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday. They will be learning about his peaceful approach to matters and how he wanted people to be friends. They will learn that it was President Reagan that sign the bill to make Martin Luther King Jr. birthday into a national holiday to honor a man that died for his beliefs. -
President's Day
President's Day is actually George Washington's birthday we celebrate this day to honor our first President but also past Presidents. On this day the children will learn who Geroge Washington was and what made him special. -
Memorial Day
We celebrate Memorial Day on the last Monday in each Monday. At first this holiday was use to remember the fallen soliders during the Civil War but now celebrate all of the fallen heros. The children will learn what the Civil War was and why we fought it. -
Thanksgiving Day
The children will learn about the three day feast the pilgrims had with the Indians. -
New Year's Day
Celebrating the new year can be tranced as far back as 4,000 years. It's important that the children understand this holiday. Today we will be learning all out the history of the New year. How in different places people bring in the New year with different traditions. Each student will share how they celebrate New Year's and give a resolution.
