Third Coalition
Britain, Austria and Russia form the third coalition against France, fearing the expansive policies of Napoleon. They are defeated in the Battle of Austerlitz in what is now the Czech Republic. Austria and Russia sign a peace treaty.

Success Before Disaster
Britain and Austria attempt revenge on France. They form the Fifth coalition, as well as supporting rebels in Spain. The year before, Napoleon had annexed Catalonia in the Peninsular War and set up his brother as king of Spain. They are defeated once more, this time at the battle of Wagram.

Invasion of Russia
The Grande Armée, led by French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, crossed the Neman River, invading Russia from present-day Poland. The result was a disaster for the French.

Battle of Waterloo
The forces of the French Empire under the leadership of Michael Ney and Napoleon Bonaparte were defeated by the Seventh Coalition and a Prussian Army, which was commanded by Gebhard Von Blucher. The forces were also defeated by an Anglo-Allied Army commanded by the Duke of Wellington.
