The Consulate was established after a coup d’etat, with Napoleon as a member. This was a success for France as it stabilized their government and gave more power to Napoleon. -

The Banque de France was founded by Napoleon in order to restore the French economy and banking system after the Revolution. It was a success, as it greatly improved the French economy. -
Concordat of 1801 💚
The Concordat of 1801 was a meeting between Napoleon and Pope Pius VII. It was held to reinstate France’s relationship with the Catholic Church. It was a success for Napoleon as it allowed him to gain more power for himself and not to the Church. -
First Consul for Life 💚
Napoleon declared himself First Consul for life, effectively making him the sole ruler of France. This was a success because it gave him even more power than he already had. -
Napoleonic Code 💛
The Napoleonic Code was implemented as the legal system for France under Napoleon, and it it is still the basis of many legal systems today. It created civil liberties and freedoms, but only for men. So, it was partially successful. -
Declared Self Emperor 💚
Napoleon was to be crowned by the Pope, but he took the crown and put it on his own head, to show his power. This was a success for Napoleon, as it showed that he was the one in control of the power. -

The battle of Trafalgar was a battle between that navies of France and Great Britain. It was a failure for the French, as they lost the battle. -
Abolished Holy Roman Empire 💚
Holy Roman Emperor Francis II dissolved the empire because it was becoming to difficult to sustain and hold together. This was a success for France as it removed a major hostile entity for the French. -
Continental System 💛
The Continental System made it so that Great Britain was blocked of from trading with or docking ships in any European country. This was partially a success, as it weakened the U.K.’s economy, but is was also unsuccessful as it lead to the British blockade of the French Empire. -
Resistance in Spain ❤️
Also know as the Peninsular War, it was fought between the French and the Spanish, Portuguese, and British forces in on the Iberian peninsula. It lasted from May 2, 1808 to April 17, 1814. It was a failure for the French as it was a side problem that they had to deal with for a long time, and that ultimately contributed to their defeat. -
Invasion of Russia ❤️
Lasting from June 24 to December 12 of 1812, Napoleon’s invasion of Russia was perhaps the biggest military failure of his career. He entered Russia with an estimated 680,000 men from all across his empire, but he exited with less than 100,000. -
Battle of Nations at Leipzig ❤️
Lasting from October 16 to 19 of 1813, the battle of Leipzig was a battle between France and its satellite states and the forces of Austria, Sweden, Prussia, and Russia. It was a failure for France, as Napoleon was decisively defeated here. -
Abdication ❤️
Napoleon had no choice but to abdicate after his defeat at the hands of the Sixth Coalition. This was a failure because this was when the last of his power fizzled out. -
100 Days ❤️
Also know as the War of the Seventh Coalition, this was the last of the Napoleonic Wars. It lasted from the end of Napoleon’s exile on Elba to the restoration of Louis XVIII. It was a failure for Napoleon. -
Waterloo ❤️
The battle of Waterloo was the last major battle of the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon was defeated here for the last time, leaving the French with a failure.
