he inherited the thrown from his uncle who had to wait for louis father to die and get the thrown. Louis was already married to Marie Antoinette. -
the formation of the national assembly
The national assembly was what began the revolution. the third estates and some outcast from the nobility and clergy declared themselves the national assembly in the tennis court. they were locked out by the king so they headed to the tennis court and made an oath to meet every day till the constitution was made. -
the great fear
the great fear was a lot of violence and riots happening over France. these riots were all by peasants that were angry because of their economic concerns and rumors of people stealing grain. -
Attack on bastile
A prison in Bastille east Paris was attacked. This was a sign that the revolution was starting which did follow this event. This prison was known as a symbol of the monarchy which is why an angry and violent mob attacked it. -
The french women force louis to leave versailes
On this day the women from Paris participated in a march to Versailles. This riot was one of the first stages of the revolution. these women marched to the palace and killed many of the guards to then put their heads on sticks. They searched the palace for Louis and Marie and eventually found them. they were forced to walk with them to Paris which became their new home. -
the national convention
This was France third attempt to have a national legislature. the country lasted 3 years under control from the convention in which these years were really violent. -

louis was executed with a guillotine in place de la revolution. he was covicted with helping foreign powers a gainst france during Austria and Frances war. -
reign of terror
this was a time when many people were not trusted. The guillotine was used to execute everyone who seemed guilty. by July 2,400 people were killed by this all to be accused of not agreeing with the revolution. these executions were seen as a very important part of the revolution. they were seen as educational so they wanted woen to knit will they take place. -
The directory is formed
The directory was the government during the beginning if the revolution. It consisted of five people that controlled the committee of safety. They were in control from November 2nd 1795 to November 10th 1799. -
calling of the estates general
his was a meting of the three estates the clergy, nobility, and the rest of the people commoners. This was the first time the king has a meeting with all 3 estates. when the king called the Estates General many saw the start of the revolution because the monarchy was collapsing. During this meting they requested a break in which the third estate went outside. The king locked the doors to prevent them from returning so they went to the a tennis court and had the tennis court oath. -
napoleon taking power
He was a French military leader and the emperor. he gained many parts of Europe. During the French revolution he raised his status in the military. He became emperor on 1804. The directory told napoleon to lead on the invasion to Britain which he requested one in Egypt to end Britain trade with India. -
napoleons invassion on russia
napoleon gained much controle over European countries and was going after Russia next. his plan was supposed to last 30 days which is why he only sent 30 days worth of food. he didn't know the type of weather that the troops may have to encounter. they arrived at Moscow but found the city emit what they returned they were attacked by the Russians. -
Napoleons defeat at Waterloo
Months before napoleon was in prisoned in the island of Elba. he then retuned to France he then took over again. In his return to power he went to war with Austria, Russia, Prussia, and great Britain which was the battle of waterloo were he lost. France was forced into a peace treaty and an agreement that no Bonaparte can rule again.
