Louis's death started the Reign of Terror. Maximilien Robespierre started the reign of terror, usual killing people whose philosiphies differed from his. The reign of terror last around ten months. on October 16, Marie-Antoinette is exucuted and in July 27, 1942, Maximilien Robespierre is overthrown. -
Napoleonic Code
This is a civil code established by Napolean. It forbades privileges based on birth, allowed freedom of religion, and specified that government jobs should only go to the most qualified. This system was created to quickly patch up the feudal system they were going by. -
Napolean crowned emperor of France
Was the first Frenchman to hold the title of emperor in a thousand years. Napolean quickly rose through the ranks of the French military because of his legendary military strategies. By 1799 France was at war with most of Europe. Napolean then returned home to save his country from collapse. -
The Peninsular War
The Peninsular war was a war between France and allied powers of Spain, the United Kingdom and Portugal for control of the Iberian Peninsula. It all started when France and portugal armies occupied Portugal in 1807, and it escalated even further when France turned on Spain. They were before allies. -

This battle was fought by Napoleon I, emporer of the French and the coalition armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Sweden led by the Russian Czar Alexander I against the French army. It was Napoleans bloodiest battle. -
Exile to Elba
Napolien was dethroned and left France to the isle of Elba, where he was exiled because of the Treaty of Fontainebleau. Although he would be able to rule Elba. The treaty allowed him to keep the title "Emperor". -
Congress of Vienna
The Congress of Vienna was a conference of ambassadors of European states. They discussed critical issues from wars to boundaries. Boundaries were made to balance each other. The congress was made to maintain peace in Europe. The congress lasted around 10 months. -
Battle of Waterloo
A french army under the command of Napolean Bonaparte was defeated by the Seventh Coalition under the control of the Duke of Wellington. -
Hundred Days
Marked the period between Napolean I return from exile, and the second restoration King Louis XVIII. The members of the 7th Coalition and several other nations put 150,000 men each into the field to end Napoleans rule 5 days after his arrival in Paris. This set the stage to end the Napoleanic wars. This lead to the permenant exile of Napolean to the distant island of Saint Helena, where he died on May 1821.
