The concept of the acrylic nails was then accidentally founded 1954, by a dentist called Frederick Slack. One day at work he broke his nail and fashioned a artificial nail to go over his broken one, using dental acrylics. -

Women started to ditch the red nails, and started jumping into the soft and natural looking pastels. Nails were all about white, nude or frosted pastel shades. -

Fake nails got more popular and the french manicure was created by Jeff Pink. The 70s era was the era of natural looking, artificial acrylic nails which were often wore long, especially by the rich. Nail art also became popular around this time, like colorful waves. -

The french manicure was very important in the 80s, Press-ons were starting to get more popular around this time. The love for nail art went wild during the 1980s with a love for experimenting with colors, prints, & textures. In the 1980s the nail shapes started to be different, the attraction for square nails over almond/oval became popular. -

2000s Nails, Loads of stuff going on! Textures, Sheens and embellishments. Nails have become part of the whole outfit. Different nail shapes started to become more popular and one that was really popular in the 2000s was "Duck nails" which is apart of the Y2K style. -

Duck nails were still around, and popular. Lace manicures were the most gorgeous nail art trend of the year of 2010, along with other nail manicures and designs like ombre, nude, glitter, etc. -

Nails now are full of a whole bunch of stuff, Charms on nails has been a trend lately, with different variety's of nail art. More dramatic looks. French tips has also been very desirable in 2023. including a lot of nail shapes like lipstick, square, & stilettos. Duck nails also has made a comeback in 2023. Acrylic nails has became more of a thing now, and Polygel also.
