    Myron Owen enlisted into the 8th New York Cavalry Regiment as a veteren volunteer: he took care of the horses of the Cavalry, and shot the horses that were sick and couldn't keep up with the Regiment and gave out Rations of food for the soldiers.
  • Severe sickness

    In February, Myron Owen had a very severe sickness that almost took away his life. However, he was well-cared for, so he didn't die. It took him until March to recover.

    Battle of WinchesterIn the First Battle of Winchester, Myron Owen and his Regiment had just reached Summit Point. Here they waited until General Banks retreated to General Jackson. All of their Regiment was told to stay on gaurd for a rebel attack in the three days following the retreat.
  • The Battle of Antietam

    The Battle of AntietamAt the start of the battle of Antietam, Myron Owen and his Regiment weren't there. However, his Regiment arrived at a crucial time during the battle, and helped Major General George B. McClellan of the Union Army. The Battle of Antietam was the single bloodiest day in the Civil War history.

    Durning the Battle of Chancerllorsville, Myron Owen and his Regiment had joined General Hooker's army. Although his Regiment had been awaiting orders from General Stoneman beforehand, they couldn't gain contact, so they joined the Union force on the third day of the Battle at Chancerlorsville.

    The Battle of Brandy Station lasted from about 5 am to about 5pm, when the Union retreated. Although the Confederate Army tried to hide their movements from the Union Army, General Joseph Hooker guessed their plan.The Union Army surprised the Confederate picket scouts when they crashed across Beverly Ford. The dead and wounded on both sides added up to about two-thousand.
  • Joins Different Regiment

    Because of the major killing at the Battle of Brandy Station, those left of Myron Owen's Regiment had to transfer to a different Regiment because of the small amount of men left.

    The North and the South clashed together near the town of Aldie, Virginia. There was no serious damage to either sides, the estimated casualties only adding up to about 390. However, the South did manage to keep their plans of fighting and sneaking up to Maryland at the same time a secret. At the same time, the North was able to push the South back from the hill they were stationed on.
  • Leaves camp to go home for a vacation

    Leaves camp to go home for a vacation
    Myron Owen leaves the camp he is stationed at to go home for a while. Only a few select soldiers were allowed to leave. He can now to spend time with family and relax.
  • Regiment captures some prisoners

    His Regiment sent about 100 of their men to scout out the area. They came back with prisoners and horses.The prisoners gave a little bit of information, but the Army suspected that they were lying, so they got nothing from the prisoners except for extra horses.
  • Battle of the Wilderness

    Myron Owen stayed behind the front lines for most of the Battle of the Wilderness, but he was in the front lines for an hour or two. His Cavalry Regiment was stationed toward the left of the battle, so they were not that affected. However, the other Regiments that they were fighting with (2nd, 5th, and 6th) suffered a lot of casualties and deaths.
  • Battle at Spotsylvania Courthouse

    Battle of SpotsylvaniaAt the battle next to the Spotsylvania Courthouse, Myron Owen was riding with a train of horses. His Division was soon engaged in teh battle. Although he wasn't involved in the fighting, he was in the front lines for a few hours during the battle.
  • Forages

    Owen goes on a very wealthy forage with 10 or 12 other men. They find a lot of horses, mules, blankets and some food.
  • Battle of Peidmont

    Here, General Ulysses S.Grant and his helper, General Hunter, had the Union make their first victory in the 1864 Shenandoah Campaign. When the Unions, under the command of Hunter, attacked Confederate forces on the morning of June 5th, the rebels were forced back. Unions soon went through a gap, and the Southerners retreated. This let the North to take control of the Shenandoah Valley.
