Cable Communications in 1984
This act protects costumers of cable companies by giving a letter to each costumer saying that personal information can be collected, the costumers right to take legal action and how their information will be used. Grade: B- This is my given grade for this law because the law has the right direction, however I am afraid that there are ways companies will try to find a way out of letting the costumers know what they are using their information for. -

Privacy and the Law
-
Wire tapping is over!
The privacy act of 1986 was passed in order to re-evulate government wire tapping and eavesdropping, It was to create a balance between the peoples privacy and the precautions the government takes in order to protect the people. Grade: A-. I believe this law is effective and shows how important the government takes privacy. -
Children on the internet
This act protects children 13 and under from having their information tracked on websites. This was put into law because of how much information businesses track of websites that are advirsed towards children. Grade: C+. The act had the right idea in mind, however the reality is people have the tendency to lie online and would not be a very useful policy if children are not being completely honest about their age. -
Times have changed
The act enhances '911' as the main emergency phone number to call. It is used to promote public healthy and encouraged the number to be used. A+. This law is benfitical and is widely effective, as 911 has saved many lives and is organized in case of emergencies. -
Policy of Rights
The bill presented is to help maintain internet users privacy while using borwsers. This means that leading networks have to create a "Do Not Track" for consumers on the internet, so they can control what they keep private or not. President Obama believes this would help consumers in the ditigal encomony. Grade: B+. This policy is made to keep internet users safe from tracking, if they wish to. This means that big corproations cannot track anyone without the user knowing about it. -
"Do Not Track"
This act establishes a requirment for web browsers to include a statment in their policy for "Do Not Track". Meaning, it is the users choice whether or not they would like to have their history on being on the internet recorded or if they wish to keep themselves private. Grade: A-. This grade fits well with this policy because the users deserve to have a choice of whether they would like to have cookies tracking their time on the internet browser. -
No spying here!
Six states, California, Delaware, and New Jersey to name a few - that passed legisation that restrcit employers from getting access of potientional employees, or applicants on socal networking. Grade: A-. I believe that this is a benefital law, especially to those searching jobs, that they do not have to fear about their personal lives being invaded and judge for potientally harmless photos they have put on their profiles for their family and friends, and how it shouldn't reflect their job ethic
