Who remembers the Video Disc Player? These huge 12 inch discs that were basically a DVD in massive form. I remember getting those and watching movies. I could never understand how the VHS tape craze took over that technology. VHS tapes were such a pain. If you ever owned VHS or 8 Track tapes you would understand. I guess even the music cassette tapes would fall into that category. Always having to pull it out of the player and fix the tape.

We started out with the Atari or Intellivision. With Atari we were only able to play Pong, Pacman, and Asteroids. Then in the 90’s came Nintendo and Sega game stations. This introduced us to a whole new world of video games. I mean it couldn’t get any better than that. To able to play the arcade video games in your own home. If you had one in your room then you were the cool kid on the block.

In my earlier days we had the little green screen IBM computers we would use to write simple little programs in our Computer Science class. The screens were small and green but you would think you were ready to jump on a rocket ship and head to space. Now we're carrying our computers around whether its our phone or laptops. What would we do without our laptops these days. Well, we would more than likely use our phones, but to be able to carry a fully functional computer with you anywhere now

The speed of data is increasing we are moving away from the dial up modem onto broadband. That fax machine sound as you wanted to connect to the internet is now a thing of the past. Im sure many my age remember AOL hell. You were only able to do about 56k of data and that was blazing speeds back then. Now we are in the Gigabyte phase, data is being streamed across the world on a thin piece of glass know as fiber technology.

    Present Day
Present Day – I remember in high school some kids having a cell phone that they had to carry this big ole brick of a battery. I’m sitting here tracking my daughter as she is making her first road trip on her own. I can see exactly where she is at in the palm of my hand So I would like to think I am witnessing technology grow but it appears to be shrinking instead.
