    French and Indian war
    This event was the whole reason why the King had to tax. The war lasted nine years althought it's other name is the Seven years war. The French and the British were fighting for control over North America. The British sent their trained soliders to America so that the British were protected. Indians were neutral and fought for both the French and British. When the French were defeated, both countries signed the Treaty of Paris and the British won a lot of land. But the King was in debt.

    Sugar Act
    The sugar act was an act that placed taxes on molasses and sugar. The King needed money after the French and Indian war. This caused a lot of taxes to be placed on colonists. The colonists were outrage on being taxed without having their say in the idea. They said it was "Taxation without representation." They protested to that by smuggling sugar from other countries. The King got mad because his taxes weren't being paid.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was an act placed on colonists to make money. The King was broke, and he decided that the colonists had to pay their fair share of money. He thought it was reasonable to do this because he was sending armies to North America to protect the colonists. The Stamp act places taxes on documents and even playing cards. They had to buy a stamp to show they payed the taxes. The colonists got mad and they rioted. They threatened the tax collectors to resigning their jobs.

    Townshend acts
    The Townshend acts were to show the people of the colonies that King George still ruled. Britian was losing control over the colonies. To stop that , They made the Townshend acts. The colonists stilled rebeled. They were fed up of being under the control of the King. They wanted to be a free country. This is another act that led to the American Revolution.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was one of the events that went to the American Revolution. Some colonists were tormenting a British soldier. He called for backup and soon more soldiers were there. When the crowd started to throw things, they shot into the crowd. Five were killed on that night. When they told people about it, they called it a massacre. Then it started more rioting.

    The Tea act was an act that placed taxes on tea. The King knew that colonists loved tea so he put a tax on it. This made the colonists mad because they didn't want to be taxed. They smuggled tea from other countries so that they didn't have to pay the tax. Although the colonists wanted to repeal the Tea act he kept it. This led to the Boston Tea Party. As more and more colonists got angry, King George was forced to repeal the Tea act.

    The Boston Tea Party was the result of the Tea act. The Sons of Liberaty thought they had to do something about the Tea act. So one night they went to the ships. They dressed up as mohawk indians but they new they would be caught. They dumped 300 boxes of tea into the Boston Harbor. The King was furious with them. That led to the Intolerable acts.

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable acts were acts meant to punish Boston. After the Boston tea party, King George was made and decided to close down the port of Boston. He also made the colonists house British soldiers. Also the British armys said they had a right to search the colonists house. This made the colonists mad and they just decided that they hated the King. The Continental Congress had to make a desicion soon before war broke out in the colonies.

    Ride of Paul Revere
    The ride of Paul Revere was very important. Paul Revere had to warn people that the British were coming. The British had heard about the gun supplies in Lexington and Concord. Paul had to warn the people of the British coming. He went to Lexington to warn the militia about the British. He got captured by the British before he went to Concord. Luckily, his friend escaped and told Concord. He was a prisoner for a while, but soon they released him. He was a hero that night.

    Thomas Paine's Common Sense
    Thomas Paine made a book called Common Sense. This book was meant to show the colonists what King George was really trying to do. This got a lot of the colonists rallied up. Now the colonies really wanted to break away from England. But the desicion was up to the Continental Congress though. So the Continental Congress made the desicion to make the colonies their own free states. This led to the making of the Declaration of Independence.
