My Father Reads to Me
I have very fond memories of my father reading King Arthur to me as a child. -

Schools Stuggles
Despite my parents' best efforts and attention, I still struggle with reading in school. I keep trying to get hooked reading all the 'hit' books that are recommended but never finishing them (out of lack of interest and ability). I literally fell asleep trying to read Chronicles of Narnia. -
Professional Help
My academic abilities still struggled due to a lack of reading for comprehension skills (and studying skills). My parents enroll me in Sylvan Learning Centre to help me out. Despite it being very expensive, I don't remember much from the my time there. In the end I developed the necessary skills in my own time. -
Introduction to Anne Rice
During the summer my sister suggests reading the first novel in the Vampire Chronicles. -

Anne Rice Obsession
Since I first made contact with her work, I've been trying to consume everything she writes (even the odd ones). -
Grade 12 Short Story Writing
In my Grade 12 English class we were given the opportunity to write short stories. This was the first time I ever remember being able to write creatively, and I really enjoyed it. After the assignment I continued to write short stories and explore that side of myself. I am very excited to implement similar activities for my students and help them find possibile talents they didn't know they had. -
First Block
During my first block it was difficult for me to know how to balance all of my different units. Being secure in my love for research and literacy, I became very ambitious with my plans for developing an Oral Communication unit centred around speeches. -
Designing Literacy Unit for Second Block
Knowing the importance of the skills necessary for effective reading, and pairing it with my previous experience at my first placement- I am carefully constructing a balanced literacy program for my upcoming 2/3 split class. -
