My brothers would bring home more advanced books home from school. I would always ask them to read it with me and tell me the words I don't know. -

In kindergarten I read my first book out loud in front of others. This impacting my public speaking skills along with my reading skills. -
Playing with those magnetic letters
I used to play with these magnetic letters that would go on the fridge. I'd always try to make words I know with them. -
Reading one of my favorite childhood books
One of my favorite books to read as a child was A Bad Case of Stripes. I read this book somewhere in like First grade and I still remember how intriguing I found that book. I think this is when I really started enjoying reading. -
Reading social studies books in 5th grade
I remember in 5th grade, our ELA/Social Studies teacher would make us read these chapters of the book. This was when I started to dislike reading as it's entirity. -
Reading A Long Walk To Water
In 7th grade i read this pretty interesting book called A Long Walk to Water. I feel like this is where I started to enjoy reading again as I had found a book that I was passionate about. -
Reading The Perks of Being A Wallflower
This book has to be my all-time favorite. As I was hesitant to read it due to it being summer work. I slowly found myself enjoying the book and reading it without dreading it. I feel as if I'm going to enjoy reading books from now on and expanding my vocabulary and knowledge. All thanks to my literary journey.
