The literacy I have read that influenced me. -
Dr. Seuss
These were like the first books I had ever been read to and then read myself. The rhyming and the pictures interested me to a point of reading more in my life. Now that I look at all the colors I think this guy was tripping something fierce. -
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
One of the first books I ever read that meant something to me. Something that actually interested me. It interested me to look into more greek mythology. -
Magic Treehouse
One of the shortest books I ever started reading. It interested me because it was like a realistic adventure of how a couple of kids learned about the world. -
Harry Potter
This series was kind of hard to read, but it helped me develop my reading skills as I progressed. -
The Spiderwick Chronicles
I read this series after seeing the movie. The books were way more descriptive than the movie, thus making the whole point that the books are better than the movies. -
Lord of the Rings
Really hard series to read. Almost too descriptive and too much information to comprehend. Even after seing the movies it wasn't any easier. -
The Hobbit
Smaller book compared to the lord of the rings series. But just as hard to read. -
The Heros of Olympus
Another series by Rick Riordan where I was very interested in the story line. -
Everlost
This was an interesting book. These kids are dead and are in the afterlife and they don't know what to do with themselves. It is kinda like putting insight on kids who's lives are now a bliss and everything they had ever known is now gone. -
The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod
Very great series to read. It only opened my interests to read more. -
Romeo and Juliet
This was like the first big book I ever had to read, it was around this time that I realized that books have writing about everything that the human race has ever discover. -
The Cask of Amontillado
Quite the story. A man tricked and then buried alive, that has got to be the worst way to die, slowly dying in the dark, alone and helpless. It was like staring death in the face, even though it was pitch black. -
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Not sure why our teacher assigned this book to read it wasn't a very great book to read, so... -
Of mice and men
Kinda a short book but quite simple to get into. Kinda sad but still written well. -
Heros Gods and Monsters of the Greek Myths
This was a great book to read if you liked greek mythology. It had a lot of information and theories about how and why the universe was made and how our world came to be. It increased my curiosity on the myths of old. -
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Another interesting story. Kinda strange how this whole story was set up. But it made me pay more attention in the end. -
The Bielski Brothers
This book was a great insight on what people's were like during WW2. It was one of the worst sightings I had ever seen. But when they triumphed it enlightened me on what they really endured. Survival. -
Hamlet
Another Shakespearean play that was about love and lost. After reading three of his pieces I realized that Shakespear was very attached to death. I guess that is the biggest point to his success. -
The Martian
Really fun book, gave me more insight on basic science than I did back in my freshman year of physical science. -
Into the Wild
It was kinda hard to get into this book, but once I did it was quite easy to follow. This was like the only book about another person that really interested me so it improved my reading on how some people view the world.
