I am very service orietned and DM has been a way for me to meet people with a similar interest. I plan to continue my effortsd in DM at Northwestern next year. -
Continued Volunteering at Giant Steps School for Autism
I began volunteering in 2012. I usually work inthe daycare or with kids in the music or sensory room. -
Accepted to Northwestern University
Northwestern was my number one choice and I am happy to have the chance to take advantage of the academic, cultural, and service oppurtunities there. -
(Hopefully) Accepted to a 6 year MD PhD program at Johns Hopkins University
I want to be a practicing physician scientist. I am interest in surgery but my interest in medicine stems from my research so hope to pursue a MD PhD. I will be living in an apartment in Baltimore near campus. I will likely need a car to get around. If so I would probably use my current Mercedes but not buy a new car. -
Begin Graduate Research
MD PhD students do not pay for medical school and recieve a stipend for their research which is usually around $28,000. -
Accepted to Research Residency (Neurosurgery) Program at Hopkins
Residents make about $50,000. I will be in Baltimore living in an condo with my husband. No kids most likely and no pets. After residency of about 7-8 years I will begin to practice. Neurosurgeons can make up to around $650,000 but it will tkae time and experience for my salary to increase. I do not plan to go back to research until I practice for a few years and then take a break for research.
