Tamagotchi
Not that I ever used this for educational purposes but I enjoyed this too much growing up not to include it. It did teach me how to take care of things. -
Chalkboard -- 1801
Throughout grade school, most of my classrooms included chalkboards, used to display what the teacher was teaching. -
Cassette Recorder -- 1935
I remember my teachers using this when we would read along with our books to audio recordings. -
Vtech -- 1985
My mother bought me a vtech desktop in the late 90s. They only thing you could do on these computers were educational, such as language arts, foreign language, math, etc. -
Overhead projectors -- 1870
My tecahers used these to project items in front of the class. I especially remember these in language arts, correcting sentences in front of the class. -
TV -- 1878
Though I used these much before this time, I mainly remember this screen when it got wheeled into class to show the news of 9/11. My teachers often used these to show news or movies in class. -
Dry Erase Board -- 1960
I remember these becoming popular upon my entrance into middle school after moving from Louisiana to California. I have always enjoyed writing on these. My teachers used these in the same use of chalkboards. -
Computers -- 1973
The first time I can remember having a family computer. We had limited use and could not use it if our mother was on the phone. -
Graphing Calculators -- 1990
The first time I used this type of technology was my senior year of high school in precalculus. -
Document Camera -- 1988
Entering college brought about new technology that I was not used to, such as the document camera used in place of the projector. My professors use this mirror things in front of the class. -
Multimedia Projector -- early 2000s
Another item that has transitioned since my time in grade school upon enter college is the multimedia projector. Now my professors use this technology and can project items in front of the class through the connection to computers.
