Pap Test and HPV Test (Cervical Cancer)
Pap and HPV tests should start at the age of 21 and be done every 3 years until the age of 29. Then from 30-65 years of age, they should be done every 5 years. Above 65 or if you don't have a uterus, then you don't need any tests. A Pap test is a procedure in which a small brush or spatula is used to gently remove cells from the cervix so they can be checked under a microscope for cancerous cells. A HPV test is done by the same way of the Pap test. -
Clinical and Self Exams (Breast Cancer)
Clinical breast exams should start at age 20 along with self exams. CLinical exams need to be done every 3 years if you are 20-30, and every year if you are 40 or older. Self exams need to be done monthly. Self exams and clinical exams are almost the same thing except the clinical is done by your doctor and the opther is done by you. They are done by examining for lumps or abnormalities in the breast. -
Mammograms (Breast Cancer)
Mammograms should start at the age of 40. You should get them done yearly. Mammogram is done with a machine and you place the breast onto it, and it takes a picture of it to look for lumps. -
Colonoscopy (Colorectal Cancer & Polyps)
COlonoscopys should start at the age of 50 and be done every 10 years. A colonoscopy is when they insert a camera into your large intestine, so they can examine the lining. -
Endometrial Biopsy (Uterine Cancer)
Endometrial biopsy should be done at menopause, or around the age of 51. They do this by taking a small sample of the uterus and examine it under a microscope. This test should be done yearly. -
