The last Spanish viceroy is forced to sign the “Treaty of Córdoba”. This marked the official beginning of the Mexican Independence. -
Constitution of 1824
The Federal Constitution of the United Mexican States of 1824 was enacted on October 4 of 1824, after the overthrow of the Mexican Empire of Agustin de Iturbide. In the new constitution, the republic took the name of United Mexican States, and was defined as a representative federal republic, with Catholicism as the official and unique religion. This constitution started our identity as mexicans. -
Mexican-American War
It was the first major conflict by the idea of "Manifest Destiny" This belief would eventually cause a great deal of suffering for many Mexicans, Native Americans and United States citizens. Mexicans (Natives in this time) began to lose confidence in Americans. -
Battle of Puebla
The famous "Cinco de Mayo" celebrates an unlikely victory by Mexican forces over French invaders in 1862.
This victory showed us mexicans that we can defend our territory from other countries. -
Mexican Revolution
it was an armed conflict to stop the regime of Porfirio Diaz that had been in the power for 30 years.
It showed Mexicans that they can fight for they're rights and be equal and free. -
Tlatelolco Massacre
it was a social movement that involved the students from universities like UNAM that were protesting the inequality of the government and the government did a killing in the plaza Las tres Culturas.
This event is important because it showed that no at every time the government has full power of the people . -
Olympic Games
Mexico hosted the 1968 Summer Olympics. These games would be remembered for Věra Čáslavská being robbed of gold medals, Bob Beamon's record long jump, and American athletes giving the black power.
Mexico started to be host of other international important events, and mexicans appreciate that. -
Earthquake of 85
An earthquake of magnitude 8.1 strikes Mexico City. Nearly 10,000 people are killed.
This fatal event showed mexicans that we need to stay together as a nation in difficult times. -
NAFTA
The North American Free Trade Agreement is an agreement signed by the governments of Canada, Mexico, and the United States, creating a trade bloc in North America. Mexican imports and exports began to grow. -
Fox chosen as president
Vicente Fox stopped the regime of the Political party PRI and was the first change of party since the first President and winning the presidency for PAN.
This show Mexicans that they can choose any party. -

It showed that we can fight the narcotraffic in our country. -

in this event 43 students disappear after protesting against the government and there hasn't been a proven cause of what happened only theories
