End of WWI
While the Europeans have been fighting for the past couple of years the freshness of the American troops made a huge difference. Soon the Germans were retreating and the Allies were advancing. At the end of 1918, an armistice was finally agreed upon. The fighting was to end on the 11th hour of 11th day of 11th month (i.e. 11 am on Nov. 11, 1918) by the Versailles Treaty. -

Night of Broken Glass

Artificial Kidney
The inventor of the kidney dialysis machine is Dr. Willem Kolff. This young Dutch physician constructed the first dialyzer (artificial kidney) in 1943. Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks refused to give her seat up to a white male riding the bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She then got arrested for breaking the laws of segregation. This led to the boycott of the buses and the Civil Rights Movement. Led by Martin Luther King Jr., the boycott lasted for more than a year and only ended when the supreme court ruled that bus segregation was unconstitutional. -

The President
President John F. Kennedy was assasinated on November 22nd by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas while riding in a motorcade to Dealy Plaza. Two days later, Oswald is shot by Jack Ruby while doing a prison transfer. John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States and led a renewed drive for public service and eventually provided federal support for the growing civil rights movement. -
Assasination
Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated on April 4th by a sniper's bullet in Memphis Tennesse and was murdered by James Earl Ray. He was assasinated at the Lorraine Motel. Martin Luther king was a leader of the Civil Righst Movement. At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize and turned in the money to further expand the Civil Rights Movement. -
Explorers on The Moon
The first man to walk on the moon was Neil Armstrong in 1969 and was part of the Apollo 11 mission. Just minutes later, Edwin Eugene Aldrin Junior was the second man to walk on the moon. Edwin Eugene Aldrin was also the first manned lunar landing in history on the Apollo 11 mission. One of the world's famous words came from Neil Armstrong while on the moon.He said "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". -
