After attacking the city various times, mainly by the error of a guard, (to leave a gate open) Sultan Mehmed II, overthrew once and for all the Roman Sovereignity in a three day invasion. Amongst this came the foundation if the Ottoman empire, making this great city host the Capital of an Empire once again. -
