  • First Signs

    First Signs
    Mt. St. Helens has a small eruption

  • Geologist and Pilots

    Geologists head up to Mt St. Helens and prepare the observation post Clear Water 1. A pilot is dispatched to fly to the top to observe what happened after the small eruption. And residents nearest to the volcano are evacuated.

  • Magma

    A magma bubble on the mountainside starts to form.

  • Growing

    The magma bubble keeps growing over the days.

  • Coldwater 2

    Scientists set up observation post closer to the volcano.

  • Earthquakes

    Many earthquakes occur on mountain 4.5 that day.

  • Nearby Residents

    Residents try to return after about a month of being evacuated. Officials make them sign waivers to enter.

  • Big Eruption

    Erupts after a 5.0 earthquake. The eruption occurs for many ours melting ice caps and destroying forests.

  • Search & Rescue

    Search and rescue continues for many hours. At the end of the day 8 more are dead and 3 are still missing.

  • Clear Water 2 Post

    Body found at Clear Water 2 observation post.

  • The President

    President Jimmy Carter visits the eruption zone and offers relief to the 4 most affected counties.

  • Close

    The last body after the eruption is found.

  • Reunion

    Reunion is thrown for helpers and survivors of the Mt. St. Helens eruption.
