Group/type/list of medications that this tool will be developed around to initiate use and identify key factors that need to be considered in designing this tool -
Template of medications and associated pre-treatment labs
Have firm development of the medications this tool will be designed for and the associated pre-treatment labs with each medication and the timeframe in which the labs would be valid for (i.e. if HIV screening was done 3 years ago, is it required again with this new medication or does this previous check satisfy the requirement?) -
Establish where and how within the workflow this tool will be applied
Have strong understanding of current workflows and how the tool should ideally function within ECW to provide provider alerts to requirements as well as limit interruptions by offering a quick reference for status of completed labs. -
Have established plan with ECW team for employing tool within the EHR
After bringing ideas, design, and input to ECW team, formulate how this tool can be be integrated into the system and the system requirements for implementation. -
Testing use of tool by mentor
Have mentor trial tool on test patients in ECW, identify adjustments that need to be made to tool. -
Use of tool by mentor in current workflow with patients
Have initiation of tool trial by mentor in real-time to identify issues in workflow and employ corrective measures -
Have system implemented for routine use for mentor, present use and educate other healthcare providers on the functionality within the rheumatology practice
