I was born in 1853. I had a hard child hood. I always was last to get what I wanted. I left to have a better life. I wanted to live in the U.S.A and get a job for the forst time in my life. I need to learn has it was to live on my own for once. -
Getting a surpise
Births in the 1800sWithin a few months I was carring a child. We decided to the child in the home cause going to a doctor would reveal our secert. I didn't know I was pregnant intill my stomach kept growing constanly. I never thought I would get all of these different types of symptoms. I was scared. -
Life saver
Due to the unserary conditions I was in i became sick affter the pregnacy. I got a cerious cas of what my husband called the flu. He went to the hospital and stole from them to try to help me. I got better after a while. I had a wonderful life with my new child and husband. -
Most life changing
I couldn't believe I was leaving, I'm so excited that I have the chance to leave and have a better life. Everything on the boat was quiet like we didn't belong there, but i just got over it. -
Most shocking
My ship arrived at the harbor. As we were getting off there were a couple white men yelling at us to turn around. They were trying to hurt us by throwing stones. I was scared that they might kill me. I was mostly scared for the man next to me. There was blood gushing out of his ody and it wouldn't stop. -
Getting what I wanted
Once I got out of the crowed a white man grabbedme and hid me away from the rest of them. This man saved my life. I wanted to live my dream and he was alowwing me to. He wanted to help, but I couldn't figure out why. At first he kept me in his home to protect me, but before long, he let it be known that he was alone and desired to have me as a wife.
