  • Month 1

    The egg is a size of a pin head, and egg is now attaching to the lining of the uterus. This is also a critical stage for the brain and spinal cord development. The heart also starts to beat.
  • Month 2

    As this month of pregnancy begins the baby is 1/4 inch long, and its face, eyes, ears, and limbs begin to take shape. The bones are also starting to form.
  • Month 3

    About an inch long as this month of pregnancy begins. Nostrils, mouth, lips, and eyelids start to form. All the buds for 20 teeth appear. Fingers and toes are almost complete. All organs are present but still very immature.
  • Month 4

    About 3 inches long as this month of pregnancy begins. Baby can now suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around. All of the facial features are becoming a lot clearer
  • Month 5

    About 6 1/2 - 7 inches as month of pregnancy begins. Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear. Teeth continue to develop. Baby becomes more active.
  • Month 6

    About 8 - 10 inches long as month of pregnancy begins. All of the fat starts to deposit under skin, but baby appears to be wrinkled. Breathing movements are starting to begin.
  • Month 7

    About 10 - 12 inches long as month of pregnancy begins. Has periods of activity followed by periods of rest and quiet
  • Month 8

    About 14-16 inches long as month of pregnancy begins. Rapid weight gain begins. Baby starts to react to light changes and loud noises with jerks. Moves into a head-down position.
  • Month 9

    About 17 - 18 inches as month of pregnancy begins. Weighs about 5/6 pounds. Weight gain continues. Skin becomes smooth as fat deposits. Movements decrease as baby has less room to move. Acquires disease-fighting antibodies from the mothers blood. Descends into pelvis. ready for birth.
