Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar. Her mother was Putlibai Karamchand Gandhi and his father Karamchand Uttamchand Gandhi. -

When Gandhi landed in Durban, a mob of white settlers attacked him and he escaped through the efforts of the wife of the police superintendent. He refused to press charges against any member of the mob. -
He volunteered in the Natal Indian Ambulance Corps.
Gandhi raised eleven hundred Indian volunteers, to support British combat troops against the Boers. -
He was the leader of a protest.
It was a non-violent protest known as the salt march, which would serve as inspiration for movements such as that of the American Martin Luther King. -
Death
He was shot by Nathuram Godse with a gun. He died because of the bullet wound. It happened in NuevaDelhi and he was 78 years old.
