Change in Teacher Pedagogy
Teachers ("Digital Immigrants") will be assimilated into the culture of the 21st century student ("Digital Native"). Teachers will be well versed in the language of the digital native and use technology as a key in promoting student learning by designing opportunities for students to interact with others, research for themselves, think critically, solve problems, and effectively communicate. -
Change in How Classrooms Are Arranged
Individual desks will be replaced with tables to allow for more collaboration. The concept of the "classroom" will be changed to the "innovation center." Students will be working in groups on varying projects based on interests. -
Computer Science as Core Subject
Computer science will be a core subject for all students. -
Restructuring of the "Grade Level" Concept
Innovation centers will be composed of students from various ages. The "grade level" concept will be extinct. This will be possible due to technology providing students to persue individualized interests as well as the venue for increased collaboration with a wide-variety of people. -
Students Producers of Online Content
Students will host their own websites, post their own blogs, make their own podcasts and video clips based on topics of interest to them. Students will be taught digital responsibility and instilled with a desire to initiate positive change in the world.
