    Transportation

The development in transportation of the 20th century paved the pathway for the advanced forms of transportation we have in the 21st century.
  • Model T

    Model T
Henry ford's use of an assembly line production process develops the first affordable automobile. The first Model T automobile is was sold in 1908. This was the beginning of mass-produced automobiles. It was the beginning of convertibles and pickup trucks.
  • Blood Banks

    Blood Banks
Charles Richard Drew researched the storing of blood. The work of storing blood allowed the use of large-scale blood banks. This was a major breakthrough as many people need blood transfusions. The knowledge of the proper techniques of storing blood makes it much easier to do operations where extra blood is needed. • Transistor

    Transistor
The invention of the transistor in the 1950s made it possible to have smaller and cheaper produced electronic goods. This paved the way for the computer which is widely used today for many objectives. The transistor amplifies or magnifies an electric signal. This soon lead to the development of microchips.
  • Medicine and Biology

    Medicine and Biology
There have been many advancements in the medical field and biology. In 1953, James Watson and Francis Crick found the shape of DNA. This development alone allowed scientist to explain why certain people have certain characteristics. There was the development of the X-ray which allowed doctors to see inside the body, and the CAT scan which allows doctors to see the brain in action. There is now a way to transplant organs all because of the study of biology.
