The microwave was invented by Percy Spencer. The microwave was invented on October 8th 1945. Although the microwave was first invented in 1945, it was first sold in 1946. This significant invention happened when Percy was in a lab working on something else. -

When this event had happened it was when Percy Spencer was working with magnetrons for a radar set. When he was standing in front of this active radar set he had realized that the candy bar in his pocket had melted.This wasn't the first time someone had noticed something like this before.This was caused because of the heat so, this was were Percy got his idea from. -

In 1946 a microwave cost about $3,000, but keep in mind the microwaves in 1946 were much bigger so they needed more power. In our current time period a microwaves starting price is $40 and up. -
