People were against some governmental issues and therefore during the French Revolution Marie-Antoinette, Louis XIV, and their children attempted to flee the country and head toward Austria. However, they were caught close to the border and taken back by soldiers to Partis and practically forced to agree to ideas of the people. -
King Louis XVI was executed
King Louis XVI was executed by the guillotine after being accused of working with other countries to plot against France. -
Beginnign of the Reign of Terror
The Committee of Public Safety took control with Robespierre as a leader. Thousands were imprisoned and executed during this time for accusation of plotting against the government/country. -
Maximilien Robespierre is executed
Robespierre was placed under arrest by the National Assembly and executed by the guillotine the next day along with many followers. He was accused of the terror brought upon people and his execution began to bring terror to an end. -

Form of government mainly created by the middle and wealthy classes; this followed the end of the reign of terror and the execution of Robespierre. Five directors were elected and executively in charge. -
