It was connected with the World War II because all of the deaths and the polemic use of some kind of weapons, as the nuclear ones. -

Cold War
The approximate beginning of the cold war. A war of the capitalism (USA) against the communism (USSR).
This was caused because of the end of the WWII, that led the world into two main leaders that compete among them, the USA and the USSR. -
Vietnam War
The beginning of the Vietnam war, in which USA and USSR fought indirectly in Vietnamese territory.
This war was caused by the tension of the cold war between the Americans and the Russians -
Bay of Pigs
This was a failed invasion from the USA to Cuba in which USA surrendered in less than 24 hours.
This caused even more tension between USA and USSR, and in response of this, among other things, Nikita Khrushchev decided to place nuclear weapons in Cuba. -

Creation of this organism that protects the workers of the state. Due to Mexico’s good laboral and economical conditions. -
Missile Crisis
USSR sent nuclear weapons to Cuba but US blocked the weapons from entering Cuba which caused tense negotiations between Kennedy and Khrushchev.
This was caused by the intentions of the Soviet Leader to place weapons in Cuba, intentions that were influenced by the Bay of Pigs Invasion. -

Dr. King’s assassination
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leader of the civil rights movement was murdered, eight days later the Fair Housing Act was made effective. -
Tlatelolco massacre
A group of students were assassinated by the Mexican government while protesting against the military oppression, they were blamed for disturbing the social peace before the Olympic games. After this the government’s true colors were shown and a big part of the Mexican people realized what kind of country they lived in. -
Olympic Games in Mexico City
Ten days after the Tlatelolco massacre the Olympic games were held in Mexico City, the so called “social peace” was restored since the leaders of the movement along with many of the followers were killed. These were the first Olympic games to take place in a Latin American nation. -
Apollo 11
This is one of the most popular events regarding the Cold War. With this the USA won the Space Race by being the first land on the moon. Neil Armstrong member of the Apollo 11 crew will be remembered as the “first man to walk on the moon”. -
FIFA World Cup in Mexico
with the Olympic Games Mexico proved to be capable of hosting big international events. New infrastructures were built for this event such as the “Estadio Azteca” -
End of the Vietnam War
After almost 20 years of fighting the Vietnam War finally came to an end. This was one of the major events of the cold war, during this war the USA failed to stop Vietnam from becoming communist. -
Death of Francisco Franco
After dictator Franco died of Parkinson’s disease a democratic government was established in Spain. With this the right-wing dictatorships in Europe came to an end -
Creation of the Sindicato Único Nacional de Trabajaores Universitario.
Under the presidency of José López Portillo the congress accepted this union in order to protect university employees. It currently known as the Federación Nacional de Sindicatos Universitarios (FNSU) -
Falklands War
This was a conflict between the UK and Argentina over the Falkland Islands. Ten weeks went by before Britain defeated Argentina; Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher gained a lot of popularity because of this victory. -

The banking system in Mexico was nationalized in response to the economic crisis Mexico was facing. -
