    At the center of their cities, there were temples for the Gods. Built large towers (ziggurats) in the centers

    Invented first form of writing.

    Mathematics

    Started implement Math system with 60 at the base.

    Sargon I

    Sargon I of Akkadians conquers most of the Sumerian city-states.

    The Assyrians

    The Assyrians rise to power in northern Mesopotamia

    Hammurabi

    Hammurabi becomes king of Babylon. Establishes Code of Hammurabi. Babylon takes over most of Mesopotamia.

    Iron

    Assyrians begin to use iron weapons and chariots.
  • 705 BCE

    Sennacherib

    Sennacherib becomes king of Assyria. Moves the capitol to Nineveh.
  • 616 BCE

    Neo-Babylonian

    The neo-Babylonian empire begins.
  • 604 BCE

    Nebuchadnezzar II

    Nebuchadnezzar II becomes king of Babylon. Ruled for 43 years and brought the Babylonian Empire to its peak.
