Summerians developed the first city-states on Mesopotamia. They were divided on 12 city-states, each one with their own ruler. They gave a begining to the Mesopotamian Civilization. They had surplus of food because of agriculture, so the population grew and they had more time to learn new things. -

Sargon was a powerful official that overthrew the king. He took control on the northern Mesopotamia. Because of this, he created the first empire. Sargon's empire expanded from the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf, ruling the Akkadian empire. -

Akkadian Empire Ruled by Sargon
Sargon ruled 56 years in this empire and created the tribute. He kept peace, introduced standar weights, ans made the Akkadian the official language. The empire becomes to big. After Sargon's death, his sons were unaible to maintain order. Famine returned. Then, the Akkadian empire ends. -

Amorites invaded Mesopotamia. Hammurabi's empire and his Code of Laws. -

Babylonia: Hammurabi's Empire and Code of Laws
The Amorites invaded Mesopotamia and established Babylonia as capital. Hammurabi became the sixth king of Babylonia, who built up a network of aliances. Hammurabi developed a Code of Laws. He died in 1750 B.C, when the Babylonian empire falled. -

Assyrian Empire
Empire developed by different culture. -

Assyrians
They were in the north of Mesopotamia. In 626 B.C, Assyrians weakened by internal power wars. -

Took the power from Assyrians taking advantage of internal power wars. -

Chaldeans: Nebuchadnezzar
Took power from Assyrians. They expanded to all Mesopotamia. Then, Nebuchadnezzar appeared and he rebuilt the city. He created a new Babylon and the tower of Babel. Built alot of monuments. -

Phoenicians: Trading and Spread Different Cultures
They lead to the development of trading and showed the importance of it in building civilizations. They spread different cultures throughout the Mediterranean Sea. -
