Men's fashion became very diverse during this time. Leisure clothes and sportswear became popular, including sweaters and knickerbockers. Formal styles were less regimented. -
1930's
Men's suits started to become tailored to fit the illusion of longer torsos. The trench coat became very popular with a double breasted front, wide, pointed lapels, and a belt around the waist. -
1940's
Boys started to wear high-waisted pants and jeans, with penny loafers and white socks. Men wore longer, full cut suits. The "zoot suits" consisted of baggy pants and large wide shoulders. -
1950s
Men's overcoats started to have textured patterns and were very bold looking. Blending of dress attire and more casual attire started to blur. Bright colored shirts became more popular. -
1960s
The Ivy league look became popular. JFK made the trend really take off with nicer looking cardigans and sweaters. It had a "laid back sophistication" look to it.
