    1920s look
    The Great Depression caused a declines in all consumer products. Men relied on ready to wear suits instead of tailored. These were suits that came in general sizes and not perfect fits. During this time it took much too long and too much fabric to do.
  • 1930's look

    1930's look
    During the 1930's men's fashion were tailored to create the illusion of large torso's with wide padded shoulders and tapering sleeves. They had trouser pants that were creased and cuffed at the bottom. During the Great Depression a lot men were out of jobs and families fell on hard times. The 30's were the start of new beginnings.

    During the 1940s the war rationing caused the most significant changes to men suits. A lot was removed,vests, pocket flaps, and trouser pleats and cuffs were removed to conserve material. On the other hand things were also added.Flashy zoot suits, occasionally worn by young men, boasted baggy pants and large, wide shoulders.

    During the 1950 men's fashion consisted of slim fitting suits, skinny ties, Letterman jackets, bowling shirts, saddle shoes and chunky glasses.The great singer Frank Sinatra kept the fedora hat and black and white shoes alive a little longer.

    During the 1960's British groups the Beatles and Rolling Stones shifted the men's fashion to colors after 150 years of absence. Other things that affected the fashion industry of men were Hippies. They had long hair and beards, tie-dyed shirts, denim work shirts, colorful flower power shirts and many more.
