First Melbourne SmartBus service began
The first stage of the SmartBus trial was implemented along route 703 Middle Brighton to Blackburn and 888/889 Nunawading to Chelsea. Smartbuses were an intiative of the Kennett Liberal state government in the 1990s, but were implemented by the Bracks/Brumby Labor government. -
