Radio
Christmas eve, 1906, Reginald Fessenden used a special alternator and transmitter to make the first ever radio signal. This was the beginning of something great. Radio helped in every war since then, helps people transmit information and helps send signals to people who may be pretty far from you. -
Silent Films
Silent films took over the entertainment industry in the 1920's. It helped tremendously for the millions of immigrants entering America and Canada and helped with the language barrier. They were extremely popular, and super cheap so they were everyones go to for entertainment. -
Radar
On June 17, 1935, 4 researchers in the United Kingdom (Watson, Watt, Wilkins, and Bowen) demonstrated radar frequencies to the public. this sparked one of the most important inventions of the next century. Radar is basically radio but more advanced and more useful. -
Walkie Talkie
Walkie talkies were a big part of lots of kids childhoods. They allowed the neighborhood kids to communicate while playing outside. Walkie talkies have revolutionized communication and we probably wouldn't have phones without them. -
First large scale Computer
The ENIAC was the first large scale and fully operational computer made. The whole model weighed around 30 tons and had 18,000 vacuum tubes and took up 1000 square feet in space. -
Coloured TV
Black and white television was around for a while before coloured TV came into the picture. Coloured TV was such a huge invention. It made you be able to see things better on a screen and without it, everything nowadays would be black and white still. -
Robot
The first robot was made by George Devol. It was invented to assist factory workers in moving hot peices of metal. -
Video Games
The first video game was invented by William Higinbotham, a physicist from America. The game is called Pong. It's a 2 player game, each player controls a 'paddle' and there's a ball they must stop from getting past their paddle. Commonly reffered to as online tennis. -
Push Button Telephone
The push button telephone was the first public type of communication. It allowed you to manually dial somebodys phone number and from there you would be put in contact with them. This was a huge invention at the time but went extinct when cell phones were invented -
VCR
the VCR was the first type of home streaming. You could insert a VHC tape into the VCR and it would display whatever was taped on the VHS onto the tv. -
Video Game Consoles
The first ever video game console was the Magnavox Odyssey. It came out in waves around the world in the late 70s and early 80s. It was the first game console and its crazy how far gaming has come since then, -
Portable Cassette Player
Portable cassette players aloud people to play their favourite music or radio through their headphones. Doesn't matter what you were doing, if you had a portable cassette player and headphones connected you could listen. It was perfect for morning walks, jogs and everything between. -
Adobe
Adobe first went public on August 20, 1986. Adobe was very popular as it made computer code and lots of other stuff online much easier to do. Since then Adobe has become a huge brand in the online world. -
Internet
The internet as a whole was invented sometime in the 1980's but it didn't become public until 1993. Internet revolutionized the world and how people do things. Almost everything nowadays relies on having an internet connection. -
Iphone
The Iphone was released in mid 2007. It is one of, if not the biggest invention of the decade. it revolutionized texting, calling, gaming, music, and many more. Cell phones are something nearly everyone owns and their very helpful in so many ways.
