2001 - VHS
The first time I watched tv, according to my mom, was when they put on Barney for me. They used a VHS player at the time and looped episodes and seasons. I don't really remember much of the experience, but a few years after that I remembered watching barney again and it seemed kinda 'memorable'. -
2005 - Laptop/Videogames
My first memory of using any technology was my mom teaching me the multiplication tables then letting me use her laptop afterwards. I was pretty young so my memory is pretty hazy, but I just used her laptop for things like games and the sort. -
2006 - Writing Materials
Around 2006, my mother told me I had started learning how to write. I particularly remember this because my brother was born that year and I brought my writing journal to the hospital when he was born. For clear reasons this memory has always stuck with me through the years. -
2006 - Radio
One of my cousins was babysitting for my parents at the time, because my baby brother was just born and I was left at home. He took us in his car to go get food. I believe he took turned up his radio and was listening to something while he watched over us. -
2007 - Cinema
I feel like around this time my parents took me to watch a movie with my siblings. I don't exactly remember the title but I think it was a Filipino movie that was famous at the time. -
2007 - Nintendo DS
My brother got the then brand new 'DS' from Nintendo. It was basically a mobile mini console. At the time all he played on it was 'Pokemon' and Mario games. -
2008 - Book
I read my first book that my mother bought me around 2008. She told me it was something like a mini novel meant for children. -
2010 - Newspaper
I started getting into reading newspapers. Mostly because my Dad read newspapers in the morning. I would pick up after he left it with his coffee. I didn't really understand the stories but I enjoyed looking at photos. -
2012 - Facebook
I made a Facebook account in 2012. My friends started making accounts to play games like 'Pet Society' and 'Mafia'. I eventually caught the bug as well. -
2012 - Youtube
I started getting into watching people play games on the internet through youtube. I got really hooked on constantly binge watching their videos on the computer. -
2013 - Phone
My family gave me my first phone in 2013. I think it was an old nokia model that had games like snake. It could hold like 20 photos at a time. At the time it was a test of responsibility to see if I could take care of a phone. They gave it to me on my birthday. -
2014 - Ipads/Tablets
My cousins came over one day with a new gadget. They brought their Ipad and I found the gadget absolutely amazing. We played through apps and drew on different canvases. I was quite amazed at the time and yearned for my own 'Ipad'. -
2015 - I Touch
On my birthday, in 2015, my parents gave me an itouch which was kind've like a mini ipad that couldn't make calls. It was really cool to finally have something that could store music and play apps on. It's lost now, but back in its heyday I held on to that thing like my life depended on it. -
2015 - Hard drives
I helped my aunts repair their hard drives using our desktop in the family room. That was my first time I engaged myself with personal hard drives owned by my relatives. -
2016 - Personal Laptop
In the summer of 2016, my brother gave me his personal laptop. After getting his new lenovo he gave me his old Dell, which functioned on fumes but was still something I treasured. It was where I learned how to program music and dj. -
2017 - New Websites
I started getting into different hobbies and I visited a whole slurry of websites in 2017. I couldn't keep track of them but I remember me being able to surf the web easily due to my new personal laptop. -
2018 - Virtual Reality
I went to a competition recently wherein I was able to try real 'Vive' virtual reality for the first time. It was pretty cool. I'd have to say that the future for video games and viewing platforms seem to be going in the direction of the virtual. Things right now are improving but in 3 to 5 years time virtual reality sets might be as welcome and as bought as things like Xboxs and PS4s.
