Alcmaeon of Croton was an early Greek medical writer that studied the body. He was the first to identify the brain and he also said that veins came from arteries. He conducted dissections. This related to the medical field because we talk about blood, and the brain. We also cut into people and sometimes do dissections. -

Leonardo Da Vinci Dissects Corpse
Leonardo was best known for his sketches of the human body. He dissected a human corpse and he saw what the human body looked like on the inside. Many Doctors today have yet still study about the human body and it's functions. Some surgeons still need to cut open a body to fine new and interesting things about it. The only thing different is that he drew what he saw and today we have special cameras and equipment to help us photograph and see things from the human body. -

Vesalius Publishes findings on Human Anatomy
He wrote one of the most influential books on human anatomy. He is referred to as "the founder of Human Anatomy". Andreas Vesalius also preformed surgeries and dissections. Many people int the medical field are involved with some type of anatomy. It's a science that is just in the medical field which makes this related. -

Zacharias Janssen invented the microscope. It has made a huge impact on our medical field because Doctors, Scientist, Biologist, and many other practitioners use the microscope. Some may use it to find a way to kill a disease, or just to see how bacteria and diseases grow. -

Blood cells weren't actually a discovery because they have always been in out body since the beginning. Antoni van Leeuwenhoek discovered them and described them as "red particles. Everyone has blood cells. Doctors can still look through a microscope today and see your "red particles". Some still study the blood cells in the human body. It's good because then they can see how blood cells react to different medicines or procedures. -

James Blundell preformed the the first transfusion of human blood. He had a lot of achievements as a physician. There are people who need blood so today we might give some blood to the blood bank or we might just get our blood drawn at our local clinic. -

Rene Laennec invented the stethoscope while working in Hôpital Neckar. Laennec has also made a huge impact because many Doctors and Nurses today still use the stethoscope. Yes it is a more updated scope but it is the same thing. -
1st Woman to gain a Medical Degree
Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman that was given a degree. This relates because women today can now be the top dogs in the medical field which I think is cool. Back in the days before women couldn't even go to school because our duty was to just be a housewife. It also relates because there is a lot of women that are in the medical field in the U.S. They all assist doctors, or they may even be the doctors, which is cool. -
The Syringe
Charles Pravaz and Alexander Wood developed the syringe. When there is a surgery, I know for a fact that surgeons still use a syringe today. You can inject fluids our take out. -
X-Rays
Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen is the one who discovered X-Rays. X-Rays are used to see different parts of the body. If you have a fracture or broken bone, it will show up on the X-Ray. X-Rays are still used today. More updated but the are definitely still used. -

Scientists discover the virus the causes AIDS. The virus was at first named HTLV-III/LAV but was then changed to HIV. It's crazy how disease can still be so dangerous and still exist today. Many people suffer from HIV. I mean MANY. There is no cure but there is treatment. -
1st Vaccine for Hepatitis A
The first vaccine for Hepatitis A was given in 1992. By the year 1955, millions of doses of the vaccine were given to people around the United States and World Wide. It's a relation because many people still get the Vaccine for school or something like that. -
Clinical Trials
The FDA approves the first human clinical trials in the U.S. Clinical trials are studies that explore more about a medical strategy, treatment, or decide. We have been using this since 2014.
