     Birth
    Maximilien Robespierre was born on May 6th in the town of Arras in 1758. Brought up by his two aunts, he lived a very private childhood and didn't have any close friends and never fell in love. (Heraty) He went on to lead the committee that while control France during the reign of terror.
  • Treaty of Hamburg

    Treaty of Hamburg
    Signed on May 22, 1762 betwween Prussia and Russia to make them allies. This ended the war between Prussia and Sweeden. (Heraty) This peace treaty brought peace back to Europe.

    The Sugar Act was an attempt for Great Britian to get more money from it's American Colonies. The Tax was passed by Parliment on April 5th, 1764. (Heraty) This angered many colonista which ultimetly ended in the Colonies getting there freedom from Britian.

    The Bengal famine of 1770 was a catastrophic famine that lasted from 1769 until 1773, which affected millions of people. The famine caused the death of over 10 million people. (Heraty) The famine reduced the population dramaticly.

    The first commercial use of the steam engine using a piston, and was used in 1712 for pumping in a mine. It as only patened in 1781. (Heraty) This was a revolutionary item that would be used all around the world.

    On may 5th, 1789 Robespierre represented the 3rd Estate in the Estates General Meeting. He was defending the poor people of the 3rd Estate.(Blumberg 290) He helped the cause that later got ride of the unfair social classes in France.

    After King Louis XVI canceled the Estates General Meetings a new assebly was created under the control of Maximilian Robespierre. At the assemble a decision was made to write France a new constitution. (French) The new constitution ended the unfair social classes in France.

    Robespierre called for King Louis XVI to be put on trial for treason. This resulted in many people turning against him, but his Jacobin party did support him and his decision.(French) This was a very rare occasion for a King to be executed.

    The hot air balloon is the oldest way of transporting humans in the air that was successful. The first hot-air balloon flown in the United States was launched on January 9, 1793. (Heraty) This was the first time people could exsperiance the feeling of flying to some degree.

    The Jacobins led by Robespirerre controlled the government until July of the next year. They lost power once the new constitution was in place.(Jordan 192) They were no longer able to tax the 3rd estate unfairly once the new constitution was in place.

    Robespirre was added to the committee on public safety. Under his control the committee's power peaked. It's main role was to protect France against foreign and domestic enemies.(Blumberg 289) This was the begining of the mass executions that would come from the guillotine

    The Reign of Terror, a period of violence and executions following the French Revolution, reached its hight. Enemies of the Revolution were killed during this time both domestic and forigen. (French) Many people were executed that didn't do anything wrong.

    The cotton gin is a device for removing the seeds from cotton fiber. It was Invented or remodeled by Eli Whitney in 1794. This created a much more efficient way of removing seeds from cotten.

    Robespierre was elected president of the National Convention. He passed a law to stop public trials of suspected enemies of France. In the first month of his leadership 1400 enemies of the Revolution were guillotine.(Blumberg 291)

    On July 27th, 1794 Robespierre and his men were placed under arrest by the National Assembly after they had declared him an outlaw.They were responsible for encouraging the execution of more than 17,000 enimes of the revolution, by the guillotine.

    Robespierre was executed by the guillotine in 1794. His death signaled the end of the Region Of Terror. (Bosher 201) Soon after his death the Committe lost it's power in the government.
