KDKA's Historic Broadcast
KDKA made the first official broadcast out of Pittsburgh, PA. The election night broadcast originated in a small shack, on top of one of the Westinghouse Electric Buildings. The primary broadcast was lead by four men: William Thomas (Engineer), John Frazier (Telephone Line Operator), R.S. McClelland (standby), and Leo Rosenburg (the first ever announcer of radio). This broadcast attracted 1,000 listeners who were informed from this session that Warren Harding beat James Cox. -
